RAWALPINDI: Burglars broke into a house in Bahria Town Phase 8 and made off with gold jewelry, foreign currency, and other valuables, police said on Wednesday.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed at Rawat Police Station, burglars stole 45 tolas of gold, a diamond jewelry set, various sanitary items, and foreign currency from a house while the owner was away.
A resident of Usman D Block reported that despite the security measures and controlled access of the private housing society, incidents of theft have been increasing.
The officer in charge at the Bahria Town police checkpost confirmed that a case has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing to apprehend the suspects.
Earlier, a call center owned by a Chinese citizen was robbed in the Sadiqabad area of Rawalpindi, on Murree Road.
Two masked robbers entered the call center in Kiyani Plaza on Murree Road posing as FIA (Federal Investigation Agency) officers. They were armed, shut down the CCTV cameras, and stole the memory cards. They escaped with Rs70,000 in cash, 40 mobile phones, laptops, and the car keys of the company’s Chinese owner.
Police and forensic teams quickly arrived at the scene upon being informed. SP Rawalpindi, Faisal Saleem, said that the suspects posed as FIA officers to gain access under the guise of a security check, allowing them to seize mobile phones and laptops.
