A helicopter belonging to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) crashed during a rescue operation overnight, leading to the deaths of two soldiers, including the lead pilot, and injuries to seven others on board.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight as the IDF attempted to evacuate a wounded soldier from the field in coordination with Unit 669. Four of the injured soldiers are reported to have sustained serious injuries, while three others are in moderate condition. All injured personnel were transported to Soroka Medical Center by 2:00 a.m.
The IDF confirmed that the crash happened near the ground and noted that no enemy forces were involved. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident.
In the broader context, the situation remains tense as the Israeli Army has reportedly killed over 41,000 Palestinians, drawing accusations of genocide from Hamas.
Additionally, the International Court of Justice has issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu amid claims that he is trying to prolong the conflict to maintain his political position, as reported by both Israeli and international media.
Despite this tragedy, the IDF has stated that they have conducted hundreds of rescue missions in Gaza, successfully saving over 1,700 soldiers without incident prior to this event.
