Pakistan Cricket Board’s long-cherished plan to build an international cricket stadium in Islamabad is finally taking shape.
According to local media, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has entrusted National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) with designing and supervising the state-of-the-art facility in F-9 Park.
NESPAK Managing Director Muhammad Zargham Eshaq Khan confirmed the development, calling it a milestone for Pakistan’s sports landscape.
The project, awarded on a government-to-government basis, aims to create a venue capable of hosting top-tier national and international matches, with facilities meeting global standards.
A NESPAK team—comprising the project manager, lead architect, and structural engineer—has already conducted a preliminary site assessment.
Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has been appointed as an expert consultant by the PCB to ensure the design aligns with international cricketing requirements.
While the PCB had floated the idea in the past, this is the first time concrete steps are being taken. The initiative will be overseen by PCB Chairman and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, underscoring the government’s commitment to building world-class sports infrastructure nationwide.
