The Islamabad police have launched a probe into the anonymous complaint of 10 women constables, working under the Red Zone Security Division, claiming work-based harassment at the hands of deputy constable Aamir Bashir, and its fellow associates.
The complaint, filed with the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Security Division, alleges that harassment of female constables has become a norm since Naib Moharir Bashir was posted to Red Zone Command (RZC).
The complaint further alleges that Bashir forces female cops to do chores beyond their duties such as cleaning washrooms and uses manipulative tactics, especially against those who resist his demands.
The letter also accuses two other male officers, Moen Khan and Hamid Khan, of supporting Bashir and putting pressure on the women constables to spend standby hours under direct supervision of Bashir.
Despite reporting these issues, the complainants claim they were reprimanded instead of getting support. The complainants requested the seizure of mobile phones of the accused for forensic analysis to uncover evidence of alleged harassment and blackmail.
Islamabad police spokesman Taqi Jawad confirmed receiving the complaint, saying aninquiry has already been initiated. Bashir has been suspended pending the outcome as Islamabad police maintain a zero-tolerance policy on harassment.
