Indian Tennis icon Sania Mirza is now embarking on a spiritual journey as she has begun the journey of Hajj.
Mirza announced the news on X where the tennis veteran asked her well-wishers to forgive for her mistakes and keep her in their prayers. “I am deeply fortunate and feel immensely grateful. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I embark on this journey of a lifetime,” she wrote.
” I hope to come back as a better human being with a humble heart and stronger Imaan,” she wrote. The tennis star also stated that she hoped that the Almighty would accept her prayers and guide her on a righteous path.
Mirza had a rough year on the personal front. She and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik divorced after 14 years of marriage. Malik is now married to actress Sana Javed.
This can be one of the reasons Mirza decided to perform Hajj this year. Hajj is an annual pilgrimage to Mecca, the holiest city in Islam.
What Is The Hajj?
In Islam, the Hajj is a pilgrimage to the sacred city of Mecca. It is a religious obligation. Adult Muslims who are financially sound, must undertake the journey to Mecca at least once in their life. It is considered as one of the Five Pillars Of Islam.
The term Hajj refers to the “pilgrimage made to the Kaaba,” a significant spiritual journey undertaken by Muslims to purify their souls from worldly sins.
