Pakistan’s headline inflation rate stood at 1.5% year-on-year in February 2025, a decrease from January 2025 when it was at 2.4%, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Monday.
Month-on-month, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) dropped by 0.8% in February 2025, compared to a rise of 0.2% in January 2025, and remained unchanged in February 2024.
The average CPI inflation for the first eight months of the fiscal year 2025 (8MFY25) was 5.85%, significantly lower than the 27.96% recorded during the same period in fiscal year 2024 (8MFY24).
In urban areas, CPI inflation decreased to 1.8% year-on-year in February 2025, down from 2.7% in January 2025 and 24.9% in February 2024. On a month-on-month basis, it fell by 0.7% in February 2025, compared to an increase of 0.2% in January 2025 and February 2024.

In rural areas, CPI inflation dropped to 1.1% year-on-year in February 2025, from 1.9% in January 2025 and 20.5% in February 2024. Month-on-month, it decreased by 1.1% in February 2025, compared to a rise of 0.2% in January 2025 and a decrease of 0.3% in February 2024.
