VARANASI: Indian police have arrested a man over allegation of contacting the Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), in the city of Varanasi.
Mohammad Rashid Ahmed, a 23-year-old resident of the Varanasi area was arrested over allegations of contacting the ISI.
As per the Indian police, Rashid made videos of the Indian Army base and sent it to the ISI from his mobile phone. He had traveled to Pakistan twice where he met ISI officials.
According to the sources, the accused has been in a love affair with a girl, originally from Karachi. He has been booked by the police under Section 123 which does not fall into the category of the spying.
The accused was staying with his maternal grandfather and uncle in Chandauli, in Varanasi district of UP. He has relatives in Karachi and had visited them twice in 2017 and 2018.
