NED DELHI: In a tragic incident that took place in the Kabirdham district of Indian state of Chhattisgarh, a bomb exploded in a home theater music system, killing four people, including the groom.
According to details gathered by MM News from local media, local police have arrested Sarju Markam, a married man from Chhapla village in Balaghat district of neighboring Madhya Pradesh, for allegedly planting the bomb in the electronic device.
According to the police, Markam is the former lover of the newly married woman, whose husband Hemendra Merawi (30) and his brother Rajkumar (32) were killed in the explosion. Markam gifted the music system to the newly wed couple and reportedly told the police that he planted the explosive to kill them.
The wedding reception was held in Merawi’s house on April 1, and on Monday, when Merawi tried to switch on the home theater received as the wedding gift, it exploded. Merawi died on the spot, and his brother later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the district hospital.
Kabirdham Superintendent of Police Lal Umed Singh said that Markam was arrested from Balaghat on Tuesday after his involvement in the crime surfaced during the investigation. The police also revealed that five others, including Merawi’s elder brother, were injured in the blast.
