RAWALPINDI: Greek Ambassador to Pakistan Andreas Papastavrou on Tuesday called on Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and lauded Pakistan’s role in the evacuation of foreign nationals from Afghanistan.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Greek envoy and the Army Chief discussed matters related to Afghanistan, border management and defence ties between the two countries.
Greek envoy asserted that Pakistan was safe for all sorts of international tourism, sports and business activities and we encourage healthy bilateral exchanges in all areas of common interest.
Speaking on the occasion, COAS reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to cooperate with its international partners to attain peace in the region and ensure a long-lasting and prosperous future for the Afghans.
On September 9, Qatar’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani called on Army Chief General Bajwa in Rawalpindi. COAS reiterated the shared resolve of extending humanitarian assistance for Afghans.
“Pakistan remains committed to working with its international partners for peace in the region and ensuring a stable and prosperous future for people of Afghanistan,” the military’s media wing quoted the army chief as saying.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, who is also deputy premier of Qatar, appreciated Pakistan’s role in successful evacuation operations from Afghanistan, efforts for regional stability and pledged to play their role for further improvement in diplomatic cooperation with Islamabad at all levels.
