The joint presidential candidate of Muslim League (N) and People’s Party, Asif Ali Zardari, was considered to be the strongest candidate for the post of president before the announcement of the Sunni Unity Council, but the announcement made the political situation interesting.
Some media reports have claimed that former Prime Minister Imran Khan has issued a message from Adiala Jail to the leaders of the Sunni Etihad Council, indicating that they should support Mehmood Khan Achakzai.
According to the schedule of the presidential election to be held on March 9 this month, today is the last day to submit nomination papers for the presidential candidate, which can be submitted by 12 noon today. Scrutiny of papers will be held on 4th March.
Last month on February 8, Mahmood Khan Achakzai won the election of Member of National Assembly by getting 67 thousand 28 votes from NA 266 Qila Abdullah Kim Chaman. After supporting Imran Khan, Mehmood Achakzai is determined for the election of the President of the country.
