ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan was brought to the Islamabad High Court under tight security today, following a Supreme Court ruling on Thursday that declared his recent arrest as unlawful.
The convoy for Imran Khan’s security was led by DIG Operations Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari, and the former prime minister arrived at the court just before noon on Friday.
Authorities had issued a high alert and provided anti-riot gear, including rubber bullets and tear-gas shells, to security personnel in response to the ruling. Police and FC personnel were deployed in Islamabad with orders to use tear-gas shells if political activists gathered to protest.
A two judges division bench comprising Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb and Saman Riffat Imtiaz would hear the bail applications of Imran Khan.
MM News has learned that Imran Khan has filed multiple applications with the IHC seeking bail before arrest in various cases. He has also requested records of all cases registered against him to date, and the consolidation of all cases of the same nature.
