The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, from Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, has formed a committee with senior leaders to initiate negotiations with the government.
According to a report by Pak Observer on Monday, Imran Khan has constituted a negotiation committee comprising former Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser, former Minister Omar Ayub Khan, Akram Raja, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, and Hamid Raza.
During a press conference, PTI leader Omar Ayub Khan revealed that he met with Imran Khan on December 5 for a considerable amount of time but was arrested again despite securing bail. He said Imran Khan had directed PTI members to hold a prayer and Jirga session on December 13 in Peshawar.
Omar Ayub Khan stated that the Jirga session will invite all political parties to participate. Additionally, PTI’s international chapters will host events on December 15. The negotiation committee’s primary agenda is to secure the release of detained PTI workers.
Warning the government, Omar Ayub stated that if PTI’s demands are not met, the former ruling party might resort to civil disobedience, which could have both national and international implications. Asad Qaiser also addressed the occasion, criticizing the treatment of PTI workers who were allegedly presented in courts as terrorists.
