Indian authorities are on high alert as the threat of terrorism casts a shadow over the upcoming ICC World Cup matches scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad.
Terrorists have threatened to target matches in the city, according to reports in Indian media, raising worries about the security of participants and spectators.
The area around and surrounding Ahmedabad Stadium has greatly increased security. To protect spectators, more than 3,000 police officers will be stationed inside and outside the stadium.
The decision has been made to keep the road leading to the stadium entirely closed during the matches, a move aimed at minimizing security risks.
According to reports in the Indian media, the Ahmedabad Stadium will use strict security measures when hosting sporting events. Only cell phones will be permitted for spectators to bring into the stadium; all other objects are absolutely prohibited.
Five games, including the ICC World Cup opener and the eagerly awaited India-Pakistan encounter, will be held in Ahmedabad. The Ahmedabad Stadium will also host the tournament’s grand finale.
The ICC World Cup 2023 will take place in India with 10 teams fighting for the elusive title across 10 venues from October 5 to November 19.
The Cricket World Cup will be played in the round-robin format with all teams playing against each other for a total of 45 league matches.
