AUKLAND: The West Indies women’s team has defeated the Bangladesh women’s team by 4 runs in the 17th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup. The only match in the ICC Women’s World Cup between Australia and India will be played at Eden Park.
In the 17th match of the mega tournament played at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui on Friday, the captain of the Bangladesh team won the toss and decided to field first which proved to be wrong. Batting first, the West Indies women’s team scored 140 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
Shaman Campbell was the standout batsman with excellent innings of 53 runs. Salma Khatun and Nahida took two wickets each for Bangladesh. In reply, due to excellent bowling by West Indian bowlers, the Bangladesh team failed to achieve the required target of 141 runs, and the entire team piled up 136 runs in 49.3 overs.
