‘I can ask CM Punjab to take a vote of confidence at any time’: Baligh Ur Rehman

LAHORE: Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman has said that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi does not want to break the provincial assembly. 

According to the details, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has given an indication to dissolve the Punjab Assembly at any time on the orders of Imran Khan, but the Governor of Punjab rejected this possibility and said that Pervaiz Elahi is not in favour of dissolving the Assembly.

In one of his statements, Baligh Ur Rehman said that the chief minister does not want to dissolve the Assembly. The chief minister has the authority to send me a summary to dissolve the assembly, which has to be decided within two days.

Governor Punjab said that he will take a decision within 48 hours of receiving the summary. “At any time, I can ask the Chief Minister to take a vote of confidence from the Punjab Assembly. We also have the power to move a no-confidence motion,” he said.

Criticizing the former prime minister, he said that it is hoped that Imran Khan will take a U-turn on the dissolution of the provincial assemblies. It should be noted that earlier Imran Khan announced the date of the dissolution of the assemblies.
