ISLAMABAD: The Human Rights Commission has expressed concern over the statement of caretaker Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar regarding a fair and transparent election without Chairman PTI.
According to the details, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) in its statement said that the caretaker prime minister’s statement regarding transparent elections even without Imran Khan and jailed PTI workers is undemocratic.
In the statement, HRCP said that the statement of Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar is based on a wrong decision, it is the job of the court to convict the party leaders in the cases pending in the court and they should not decide the fair election.
HRCP said, “What is a fair election? Its decision is not the task of the caretaker prime minister or his government.” He added, “The PTI leadership was systematically liquidated through mass arrests and then re-arrests after release.”
The Human Rights Commission asserted that PTI leaders were forcibly separated from the party. Several cases have been filed against political leaders and activists, and restrictions on freedom of expression and assembly have been imposed, which is not a level playing field.
The commission maintained that we also condemn the ill-treatment of PTI president and former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, who has been arrested several times despite the High Court’s instructions.
