Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has officially announced that its highly anticipated Harry Potter television series will premiere in 2027 on HBO, with production already underway in the United Kingdom.
Described by WBD as a “faithful adaptation of the beloved Harry Potter books,” the new series aims to retell J.K. Rowling’s magical saga with fresh faces and a renewed focus on long-form storytelling.
Originally announced in 2023, the project is planned as a decade-long series, covering all seven books in greater detail than the original films.
The studio also released the first on-set image of Dominic McLaughlin, who will portray Harry Potter, dressed in his Hogwarts robes. Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton have been cast as Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, respectively.
Where to Watch
United States: The series will air exclusively on HBO, not HBO Max.
International: The show is expected to stream on HBO Max or regional equivalents, depending on country-specific availability.
