LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz launched the ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ scheme on Wednesday, aimed at providing interest-free loans for home construction to deserving individuals.
Scheme Details and Online Application:
During the inauguration ceremony in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz expressed her excitement about the new scheme, emphasizing the importance of homeownership. “Having your own home is a significant blessing,” she said. “Those without one understand the depth of the desire for it. We hope this scheme will help address this critical need.”
Under the ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ scheme, loans are available for both urban and rural landowners. For urban plots ranging from 1 to 5 marlas, a loan of 1.5 million rupees will be provided. For rural areas, up to 1.5 lakh rupees will be available for plots between 1 to 10 marlas. Loan installments are to be repaid over seven years. In the first three months, the installments would not be paid. Â Borrowers will be required to pay a maximum monthly installment of 14,000 rupees.
Maryam Nawaz highlighted that there would be no hidden charges or interest, as the Punjab government will cover all service charges. The loan application process is streamlined and can be completed online. For those seeking more information or assistance, a dedicated contact number, 080009100, is available.
The Chief Minister noted that banks have not been included in the scheme to avoid additional requirements and complexities. She expressed her commitment to making the scheme accessible and beneficial, stating that the initial phase will cover 5 to 6 districts in Punjab.
“We have designed this scheme to ensure that the installment payments are less than typical rent costs, making it easier for people to own their homes,” Nawaz added.
