The fear of a rise in petroleum product prices has emerged across the country amid the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran. There is a concern about an increase of up to 5 rupees per liter in the prices of petrol and diesel.
According to details, an initial working paper has been prepared regarding changes in petroleum product prices. Some reports claim that an increase of up to 5 rupees in the prices of petrol and diesel is expected.
The initial working paper proposes a price hike in petroleum products starting from June 16. A proposal has been presented to increase the price of petrol by 1 rupee 12 paisa per liter and diesel by 5 rupees 27 paisa per liter. A recommendation has also been made to increase the price of kerosene oil by 4 rupees 13 paisa per liter.
Officials say that the final decision on the adjustment of petroleum product prices will be made by the Ministry of Finance with the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
It is worth noting that Israel recently carried out attacks on Iran, targeting several military and key figures. In response, Iran also launched rocket attacks in retaliation. The international community has expressed concern over the Israel-Iran tensions and advised both sides to exercise restraint.
