The government has dropped electricity bombs on the citizens of Karachi and increased the electricity prices for the next month.
According to the notification, electricity for Karachi has been increased by 10 rupees one paise per unit while electricity has been increased in the monthly fuel adjustment. It is said in the notification that in June 2 rupees 68 paise, and in July 3 rupees 11 paise per unit will be charged extra.
An additional charge of Rs 3.22 paise per unit will be levied in August, while an additional charge of Rs 1 per unit will be levied in September. The Nepra notification further states that the surcharge will not be applicable at K Electric’s Lifeline and Electric Vehicle charging stations.
It should be remembered that there is a serious electricity crisis in Karachi at the moment, various areas of the city are suffering from the problem of load shedding while K Electric seems to be failing badly in providing electricity to the citizens.
