With the advent of the Internet, information systems around the world have been revolutionized.
With the invention of the mobile phone and the invention of the smartphone, its scope became wider, with news and information limited to radio, TV and newspapers only twenty or thirty years ago, now accessible to every individual and age. Gender and economic class divisions are not an obstacle, all the curtains have fallen, and whatever kind of material one wants to see or read, becomes available with the movement of one finger.
This fast-paced flow of information has given rise to a number of social issues that cannot be discussed here, but this uninterrupted flow of information has also shattered all filters on traditional media to verify the news.
Most of the material available on the Internet generally does not undergo any verification process and is not subject to any law except if there is any illegal material that has been identified and the concerned agencies are bent on rooting it out, otherwise there is no need for verification, no accountability, no fear of any law. That is why fake news from the internet is a headache for countries around the world today.
While some people create these counterfeit materials as individuals for a personal purpose, such as financial fraud, etc., but some institutions and organizations have made this counterfeiting a regular industry, these organizations include Israel’s Mossad, the US’s CIA, the Russian secret service, SRV and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards on the top of the list.
Many NGOs trained by these organizations, including both political and armed resistance organizations, have also mastered the art, and the rise of social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter has given the art new dimensions. Granted, political parties now resort to these social media platforms for a well-organized election campaign
Allegedly, Donald Trump ran a well-organized propaganda campaign to win the election, based on the complete data of consumers’ likes and dislikes and defeated Hillary Clinton, a much more experienced and strong candidate than him. There are reports of such institutions being hired by major political parties in many other countries, including India, such as the BJP.
In Pakistan, PTI has given a new lease of life to this art. The work of launching PTI and Imran Khan politically spans decades. The first attempt in this regard was made in the early nineties. This initial attempt failed due to unfavorable conditions and the refusal of important political and social figures of the time to participate in the project.
The second attempt was made in the time of Pervez Musharraf in 2000. However, due to the increased ego of Pervez Musharraf and Imran Khan, this bull could not ride but Pervez Musharraf left a political legacy as a raw material on which the present PTI’s foundation was laid.
The third and final attempt began in 2011 and seven years later the PTI won the general election and led to Imran Khan’s prime ministership and the credit for this success undoubtedly goes to social media. (Behind-the-scenes forces are not being deliberately mentioned)
Here’s a few basic facts about a stomp pad and how it was achieved through social media.
Fake global news websites
For fake news, the fake news networks are the backbone with names similar to those of various real news organizations, and with great effort to upload authentic news, events and investigative material. Ordinary readers consider it to be a world class newspaper or journal.
For example, the leading newspapers in the Arab world are the Khaleej Times or Gulf News. On this occasion, fake websites are created under the names of Khaleej Mag and Gulf Mag, on which news is uploaded in the style of a daily newspaper or magazine as usual. At intervals, a piece of news is inserted between the real news, which is intended to achieve a specific goal.
For example, a news item that may have passed through your eyes and will also be part of the memory that Imran Khan has been declared as the most influential leader of the Muslim world. Issued through the site. The news is then shared on Twitter with a handle created under the same fake magazine name.
Fake social media accounts, groups, pages, youtube channels
Thousands of YouTube channels, fake accounts, pages and groups are created on social networking platforms like Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp, some of them in the name of seemingly harmless games, music or entertainment. Some popular political and social issues like Kashmir or Palestine etc or can not be attributed to the leader because from a legal point of view this group or patch is being run by a fan.
Some accounts or pages or groups use sexually explicit material and images of girls or other similar tactics to get the attention of as many young people or users as possible. Most young people by name are attracted to these accounts or pages.
When the membership or the number of viewers and attendees increases to a certain extent, these fake accounts or pages or groups work to promote fake news released by fake websites between general content and put you in your friend list. A seemingly captivating story appears on a page of a girl or a group or page with a link to a regular international magazine.
Autobots
Another technique used to further exaggerate this fake news and make it a top trend in Twitter terms, commonly known as auto bots, is to send a single tweet through special software or post is the art of tweeting, retweeting, or posting from thousands of fake accounts at the same time. Which of you remember the story of Kamran’s uncle a few years ago who came to Pakistan after being released from Saudi jail thanks to the efforts of Imran Khan? The same message was tweeted with the same name from thousands of different accounts and it seemed as if thousands of Kamran had been released, but it was said that millions of Pakistanis were made uncles through this one tweet.
Fake followers
All these fake accounts and auto bots are used to spread the message of any political party or its leader on a large scale and if you have a social media team that has all the above tools available then you can stay overnight and get millions of followers. All the fake accounts and auto bots follow the account, thus each account included in the list reaches thousands or millions of followers. Because the weight or importance of social media accounts depends on their followers, just as the ranking of traditional newspapers in Pakistan was conditional on the Audit Bureau of Circulation or ABC certification, these accounts come to the forefront.
If you check Imran Khan’s Twitter or Instagram account then his followers are in crores but if you start checking one follower then these will often be fake accounts and if you retweet Imran Khan’s tweet and count the replies. So they are not more than a few thousand.
Once the story goes viral, sooner or later it is aired on a mainstream channel like ARY or Bol, as if it has been sealed, now the brothers are madly making posts with the footage of this channel have started to do without thinking about the source and quality of the channel.
PTI’s message was amplified or double-edged, with many organizations secretly running campaigns through their own teams in support of PTI’s fake news network and social media team, especially the role of opposition political leaders.
