In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Battagram district, a man allegedly killed his niece in the name of “honor”, as reported by national media on Tuesday.
According to recently surfaced reports, police say the alleged killer surrendered himself to the police and disclosed the details of the incident. The accused claimed that he had been staying as a guest at his brother’s house in Khawagrai Colony for the past two days.
The accused stated: “On the night of the incident, when my brother was at a poultry farm in the Nowshera Ajmera area, I was given the responsibility of looking after the house. I was sleeping in one room, while my 16-year-old niece was sleeping in another room with her mother and stepmother.”
The uncle of the deceased girl said, “Around 2 a.m., I heard the main door open, which woke me up. I saw my niece leaving the house with three individuals. I followed them and fired at my niece with a pistol.”
He said that as a result of the firing, his niece died on the spot, while one boy was injured. The other two individuals fled the scene.
Police have registered a case against the alleged killer under sections 302, 324, 311, and 15-AA of the Pakistan Penal Code and have recovered the rifle and pistol used in the incident.
