A serious case involving alleged honey-trapping, blackmail and the creation of compromising videos has emerged in Qabar Kot, within the jurisdiction of Khudian Police Station in Kasur District.
Several young men have been accused of targeting multiple women and girls over an extended period.
According to a report published by Punjab Post, five individuals allegedly spent the past three years befriending young women under the guise of friendship and romantic relationships, subsequently obtaining audio recordings, videos and photographs which were allegedly used for blackmail.
The report claims that at least 25 women may have been affected and that more than 3,000 audio recordings, videos and images are involved.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, one alleged victim claimed that the suspects would initially establish an emotional relationship before recording private conversations.
These recordings were then allegedly used to pressure victims into meeting in private locations, where additional compromising material was reportedly obtained and used for ongoing blackmail.
Another woman alleged that she was threatened with the release of her own videos on social media after being shown videos purportedly involving another victim, unless she complied with certain demands.
The report further alleges that cameras had been installed inside the suspects’ residence and that mobile phone screen-recording technology was also used to capture material.
Police officials stated that no formal complaint has yet been received in connection with the matter and, as a result, no legal proceedings have been initiated.
According to the alleged victims, concerns regarding social stigma, family reputation and community pressure have discouraged them from approaching law enforcement authorities.
Local residents have called upon the Punjab Government and relevant law enforcement agencies to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation into the allegations. They have further urged authorities to take strict legal action should the claims be substantiated.
