Hezbollah has officially declared that it has entered a direct war with Israel, and the return of Israeli settlers in the north will not happen before a ceasefire.
Hezbollah’s new leader, Naim Qassem, made this announcement in a statement.
In response, Israeli President Isaac Herzog issued a threatening message, saying, “Naim Qassem has made the same mistake as his predecessors.”
During a visit to wounded soldiers in Haifa, Herzog stated, “Naim Qassem will soon meet his end. I am confident he will face his fate.”
Herzog accused Naim Qassem of trying to conceal the fact that Hezbollah and its allies (referring to Iran) have brought destruction to Lebanon.
Earlier, Naim Qassem addressed Israelis in a recorded speech, saying:
“I tell Israelis that the solution to the home front is a ceasefire. I’m not speaking from a position of weakness; if Israelis don’t want it, we’ll continue the war.”
He warned that continuing the war would mean northern residents won’t return home, and hundreds of thousands or over 2 million would remain at risk.
Qassem emphasized the need for patience and sacrifice among Lebanese displaced by Israeli attacks.
