Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has unveiled a revised gas supply schedule for December 2024, aiming to address the challenges of low gas pressure and increased demand typically experienced during the winter season.
Serving millions of customers across Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and other regions, SNGPL’s new measures aim to ensure a consistent and reliable supply of natural gas to households during the cold months.
Per government directives, SNGPL has introduced time-specific slots to ensure a steady, full-pressure gas supply for domestic consumers during peak hours. This strategic move is designed to help households plan their daily routines efficiently, particularly around essential activities such as cooking and heating.
Gas Supply Schedule
The newly revised schedule includes three designated time slots for gas availability:
- 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM: For morning meals and heating needs.
- 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM: For midday cooking and heating.
- 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM: To support evening meal preparations and warmth.
An SNGPL spokesperson confirmed that gas would be available at full pressure across all service areas during these specified hours. The updated schedule reflects the company’s commitment to balancing consumer needs and tackling supply constraints amid the seasonal surge in demand.
Winter months traditionally see a rise in gas consumption due to increased usage of heaters and boilers and extended cooking times. Shorter daylight hours and insufficient insulation further increase heating requirements, putting additional pressure on the gas supply system.
In light of these challenges, SNGPL has urged consumers to optimize their usage during the allotted time slots and adopt energy-saving practices to help alleviate system strain. The company has also emphasized the importance of remaining connected to official communication channels for updates on gas supply and other services.
With this new schedule in place, SNGPL hopes to ensure that all households can meet their heating and cooking needs while also managing the growing seasonal demand efficiently.
