Taking a major initiative by the Higher Education Commission to protect students from private university scams has released lists of 147 fake universities, campuses, institutes and fake programmes.
According to HEC list, 94 institutes and university campuses across Punjab including Lahore are fake and unregistered while 35 in Sindh, four in Azad Kashmir, 12 in KPK and two federal chartered institutes has been declared illegal.
HEC instructed students to take admission by looking at the lists issued.

The commission further stated that degrees issued by unregistered or illegal institutions will neither be recognised nor accepted for government employment or higher education purposes.
HEC emphasised that students should enrol only in approved and registered universities to safeguard their academic future.
