Heavy rain turns weather pleasant in Lahore

LAHORE: Heavy rain on Sunday turned the weather pleasant in the Punjab capital, and the meteorological department has predicted partly cloudy with chances of rain during the next 24 hours.
Heavy downpour in different areas inundated roads and streets in the provincial capital of Lahore and residence faced immense difficulties as rainwater entered houses in low lying areas.
Rain with gusty winds was also reported from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Nathiagali, Murree, and their adjoining areas. The rain provided much-needed relief to the people from persistent hot weather.
Meanwhile, Mureedke, Faisalabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Bhalwal, Dina, Bahawalpur, Manchinabad and Chishtian were also hit by heavy rains. Tank and Dera Ismail Khan and many cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also reported rain with a thunderstorm. 
Monsoon rainfall is expected to remain near normal by 10 percent higher from July to September 2020 in Pakistan.
The port city’s weather also turned pleasant on Sunday morning with the resumption of the sea breeze.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the temperature in the metropolis dropped with the return of the sea breeze.
The maximum temperature recorded in the city this morning was 31 degrees Celsius and expected to rise to 35 degrees Celsius during the day.
It said there are chances of light rain over the next 24 hours with overcast skies. Besides, Karachi is expected to experience the second spell of this year’s monsoon rain next week.
Sindh and Kashmir are likely to receive moderately above normal by 20 percent rainfall during August and September. Area weighted normal rainfall of Pakistan during July-Sep may remain 140.8 mm.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), rain-thundershowers with dust-storm, gusty winds and isolated heavy falls are expected in upper and central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, eastern Balochistan, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next24 hours.
The temperature of some major cities recorded this morning: Islamabad and Muzaffarabad 21 degree centigrade, Lahore 23, Peshawar 26, Quetta 23, Gilgit 20, Murree 16n  degree centigrade.
