Famous Indian Punjabi singer and musician Hans Raj Hans has expressed his admiration for Pakistan, stating that no country is better than Pakistan when it comes to Sufism and art.
In a recent performance in the UK, after engaging with journalists and social media influencers, videos of Hans Raj Hans praising Pakistan went viral.
Hans Raj Hans shared that Lahore feels like his second home, and he wishes he could visit regularly, enjoy meals with friends, and return home, but due to borders and political policies, he is unable to do so. He recalled an experience when he visited Punjab in Pakistan, where he was surprised to find that the people there were very similar to those from Indian Punjab, in terms of clothing, language, and even habits like using similar insults.
He also recalled a performance at the Wagah Border, where he felt torn between the two sides — on one side, he was near Lahore, and on the other, he was at the Indian border.
Hans Raj Hans expressed his desire for peace and prosperity in both Pakistan and India, criticizing the immense spending on weapons while people in both countries still suffer from poverty. He wished that he could walk to Lahore, visit Data Darbar and Nankana Sahib, and enjoy the local food, which he said tastes just like the food made in Indian Punjab.
Hans Raj Hans concluded by saying that in terms of Sufism and art, no country surpasses Pakistan. His praise for Pakistan has sparked an interesting reaction from social media users.
