KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman once again accused the Pakistan Peoples Party-led Sindh government of being biased and demanded that the National Accountability Bureau initiate a probe into all government jobs given during the past several years.
Hafiz Naeem said PPP has long been discriminating against urban areas especially with a quota system in place wherein the government job vacancies have only a meager share for the citizens of the metropolis.
The JI leader said, “There are about 6,000 job vacancies in the province however, the share for Karachi is a mere 343 posts. Noting that it is the worst kind of rights violation against the citizens of the city”
He claimed, “This discrimination meted out to urban citizens at the hands of PPP has long been in practice.” Hafiz Naeem said that even the federal government has extended the discriminatory quota system for an indefinite period of time.
He said that the urban areas of Sindh had been facing economic terrorism during the over 10-year rule of the Pakistan Peoples Party-led Sindh government as the provincial authorities had snatched all municipal and service delivery functions to mint money.
Naeem said “Karachi is a city of half the population of Sindh. If the population of Sindh is properly counted, the population becomes 63 million out of which the population of Karachi alone is 30 million. The cruelty is that even the parties in the governments are watching the situation as silent spectacles,” he added.
The JI leader questioned as to why the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf remained silent over injustices towards urban Sindh.
