In a shocking revelation, the Senate Standing Committee on Interior was told that hackers have defrauded several members of Parliament of hundreds of thousands of rupees through online scams.
During the committee meeting, chaired by Senator Faisal Saleem, it was disclosed that hackers managed to deceive various parliamentarians, extracting large sums of money. Senator Saifullah Abro said that the hacker group typically demands amounts ranging between Rs500,000 and Rs550,000.
Hackers reportedly withdrew Rs850,000 from Senator Dilawar Khanās account, while Senator Falak Naz Chitrali lost Rs500,000 in two separate transactions.
The affected Senator Falak Naz said the hackers scammed her through a phone call, claiming it was for the establishment of a counseling center.
Senator Falak Naz further revealed that the hackers possessed complete personal data, including information about her family and children.
Despite lodging complaints with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), no action has been taken so far.
Following these alarming revelations, other committee members expressed deep concern, stressing the urgent need to curb hacking activities and online fraud.
