RAWALPINDI: Wicketkeeper-batsman Rizwan scored his maiden Test century to help Pakistan set South Africa a target of 370 runs on the fourth day of the second Test in Rawalpindi today (Sunday).
After losing five wickets for just 76 runs on the board, Rizwan, who was ably supported by the lower order, put Pakistan in a strong position through his brilliant century. The 28-year-old took a sharp single off-spinner George Linde to complete his first century in his 13th Test.
Here is how Twitter responded to the century, with some calling it the most mature and responsible innings by a Pakistani lower-order batsman in many years.
Mohammad Rizwan is a nice little player. Very busy at the crease. Congrats to him on his first test century. Pakistan have quite a few nice pillars to build on going forward.

This is one of the most mature displays of a test-century I have watched from a Pak batsman recently. It’s full of perseverance, determination, match-awareness & simply good cricketing shots. Congrats Rizwan. Slowly but surely a core young Pak team is shaping up #PAKvsSA pic.twitter.com/WQLFhnFjYl
