ISLAMABAD: Minister for National Food Security and Research Makhdum Khusro Bakhtiar said the government will fix retail prices of essential commodities to control food inflation across the county.
While talking to IMF staff Mission in Islamabad, the minister said that Pakistan is adopting all essential steps to control the food inflation and food prices adding that inflation across the country would be stabilized soon.
Makhdum Khusro further said that abundant wheat crop is predictable this year and there would no issue of wheat supply in the coming months.
He said though the government has allowed import of three million tonnes of wheat to tackle current issues of wheat.
About the wheat board, he told representatives of the federal and provincial governments, agriculture and food departments, growers and all stakeholders, including fertilizers, pesticide and seed industry, should be included in it so efficiently handle the issue, he added.
