The federal government has directed all electricity distribution companies across Pakistan to remain on high alert during Muharram-ul-Haram to ensure an uninterrupted power supply nationwide.
Authorities have emphasised that any negligence or lapse, particularly on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, will be considered unacceptable.
Acting on the special instructions of Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Leghari, strict operational guidelines have been issued to electricity distribution companies (DISCOs), requiring them to guarantee a continuous and reliable electricity supply throughout the holy month.
The Energy Minister has instructed all distribution companies to maintain a heightened state of readiness, stressing that no disruption to electricity services will be tolerated during Muharram, especially on the 9th and 10th of Muharram when major religious gatherings and processions take place.
Mr Leghari further directed that power supply must be maintained along all routes of religious processions and at venues hosting majalis (religious gatherings). Distribution companies have also been instructed to avoid load-shedding or planned outages in these areas during the observances.
