The Government of Pakistan has issued a notification introducing a four-day working week.
According to the notification, government offices will operate on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, while Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be observed as holidays.
The notification further states that in all federal and provincial government institutions, officers in Grade 20 or above, or those receiving a salary exceeding Rs300,000, have been directed to voluntarily forgo two days’ salary.

The salary deduction will not apply to the health and education sectors.
The notification has been issued as part of the austerity package announced a day earlier by Shehbaz Sharif.
