‘Good Newwz’ surpasses ‘Dabangg 3’ in box office collection

Bollywood comedy film ‘Good Newwz’ seems to have hit the bull’s eye at the Indian box office as the film appears on roll creating and breaking several records.

The film stars an ensemble star cast comprising Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh in pivotal roles. The film is still going strong in the domestic circuit and has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark.

Film producer Karan Johar took to Instagram to celebrate the success of the film and thanked the cast and crew.

He wrote, “That feeling of pride when a group of solid minds come together to make a cracker of a film! A film that is as we speak crossed the 200 crore gross mark worldwide and Besides the box office has garnered so much love and cheer in the cinemas!”

Akshay Kumar ended 2019 with a bang as all his releases have surpassed the 100 crore mark and ‘Good Newwz’ is quick to achieve the feat in its first week. The collection of the film is similar to Akshay’s previous releases ‘Mission Mangal’ and ‘Housefull 4’.

‘Good Newwz’ will cross the business of films like Saaho, Total Dhamaal and Kesari to become the seventh highest-grossing film of 2019. ‘Good Newwz’ received a good response from the critics as well as the audience and a good word of mouth.

The box office collection will  be affected as Ajay Devgn-Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ and Deepika Padukone’s ‘Chhapaak’ will release this week.

The film surpassed previously released Salman Khan starrer Dabangg 3 in all overseas markets. In North America, Good Newwz collected Rs. 28.30 crore while Dabangg 3 raked in Rs. 20.76 crore. Similarly in UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, Good Newwz maintains a lead over Dabangg 3.

The film revolves around two married couples, who try to conceive babies through in-vitro fertilisations (IVF), but a goof-up by the doctor starts off a hilarious joy ride for the audience.

On the professional front, Akshay has projects like ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Sooryavanshi’, ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ and ‘Bell Bottom’. Kiara will team up with Akshay once again in ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ and will also be seen opposite Kartik Aaryan in ‘Bhool Bhulaiya 2’. Meanwhile, Kareena is all set to entertain the audience with Irrfan Khan for ‘Angrezi Medium’.
