KARACHI: The upward trend of gold persisted on Monday, with the precious metal registering further gains in the international market. In Pakistan, the price of gold per tola reached a new peak of Rs245,700, following a Rs600 increase throughout the day.
Rates provided by the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA) show that the 10-gram gold was sold for Rs210,648 following an increase of Rs514.
The price of a tola of gold in Pakistan jumped by Rs4,900 on Saturday.
After a $5 increase in the foreign market, the international rate of gold was set at a record $2,355 per ounce on Monday with a premium of $20, according to APGJSA.
In the meantime, the price of silver per tola stayed constant at Rs 2,650.
Meanwhile, in the interbank market on Monday, the value of the Pakistani rupee fell by 0.01% versus the US dollar, but otherwise was relatively constant.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan, the local unit closed at 277.95, down Re0.02 versus the US dollar (SBP).
