Global coronavirus cases surpass 6.5 million

WASHINGTON: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide has crossed 6.5 million today.
Around the world, the pandemic has killed more than 388,041 people and infected over 6,573,585.  According to the latest data, 3,171,032 patients have recovered from the pandemic so far.
In the United States, nearly 1,901,783 cases were confirmed, including more than 109,142 deaths. The US reported an increase of 1,083 deaths in the past 24 hours.
Brazil now has the second-highest number of recorded infections in the world after the United States with 584,562 cases and 32,568 fatalities with 1,269 deaths in a 24 hour period.
Over 432,277 people have infected while 5,215 people died of the virus in Russia. The country has the third-highest number of recorded infections in the world.
Spain has recorded 27,128 fatalities and 287,406 infections. The United Kingdom has reported 39,728 fatalities and 279,856 infections.
Italy, which recorded its first coronavirus death at the end of February, has 33,601 fatalities, while 233,836 infections.
India has reported 216,919 cases while 6,088 deaths due to the coronavirus. Germany has reported 8,699 deaths and 184,425 infections.
Turkey reported 166,422 coronavirus cases and 4,609 fatalities. France has reported 29,021 deaths and 151,677 cases.
China has to date declared 4,634 deaths and 83,022 cases, with 78,319 recoveries. In Belgium, 9,522 people succumbed to the disease while reported 58,685 cases due to the coronavirus.
Mexico has reported 11,729 deaths with over 1,000 deaths in the last 24 hours and 101,238 cases. Meanwhile, Canada reported 7,498 fatalities and 93,085 infections due to coronavirus.
