Ghee manufacturing companies have increased the prices of ghee from Rs 444 per kg to Rs 452.
According to sources, the supply of imported palm oil is less than domestic consumption. The shortage of raw materials for ghee manufacturing companies may intensify till Ramadan. An extraordinary reduction in the supply of raw materials may lead to an increase in the prices of ghee and edible oil. At present, the total stock of raw materials in the country is required to be 375,000 metric tons.
Stocks have been declining for the past three months, palm oil, palm oil, and soybean oil stocks have been declining sharply, the current stock has remained at 191,500 metric tons due to a lower supply of raw materials than domestic consumption.
Ghee prices jacked up by Rs20 to 25 per litre
The Pakistan Vegetable Manufacturers Association said in this regard that during the holy month of Ramadan, citizens may face a shortage of ghee and edible oil along with high prices. The total reserves of palm oil and soybean oil were 298,000 metric tons on December 27, 2021. In terms of demand, these stocks are 77,000 metric tons less.
On February 14, 2022, the total stock of raw materials was reduced to 233,000 metric tons. According to the current record, the stock of raw materials has been reduced to 191,500 metric tons, which is 183,500 metric tons less than the stock of domestic demand.
It may be recalled that this month the price of second-grade ghee was increased by Rs. 14. Overall, the prices have increased by Rs. 22 this month.
