Jawaid Iqbal Bajwa, brother of former Army Chief General (r) Bajwa, has been accused of submitting fake intermediate degree, according to investigations by his employer, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
PIA reported that Jawaid Iqbal Bajwa submitted an Intermediate certificate with roll number 25703 on August 29, 2023. This degree was later determined to be bogus by the Intermediate Secondary Education Lahore.
A showcause notice was issued to Mr. Bajwa, stating that his actions constituted misconduct under clauses 54 and 32 of the PIA Employees Disciplinary Policy. He was given seven days to submit his response.
It is worth mentioning that last year, the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Crime Circle booked 117 PIA employees for possessing fake degrees and froze their accounts. Reports indicated that the agency recovered Rs90 million by freezing the accounts of those accused.
Charges of fraud and alteration of records have been leveled against the PIA employees, and a challan has been prepared against them. The FIA is expected to submit the investigation report in court soon. Those who secured jobs in PIA through fake degrees held positions such as assistants and supervisors.
