RAMALLAH: Gazan children save their pet fish from the rubble of their home after it was demolished by an Israeli airstrike as their battle entered the fifth night and US and Arab diplomats sought an end to the violence.
According to a video, the children can be seen holding a jar with fish in it. “We saved it from the house,” the boy can be heard saying, while a girl said, “We want to go back to save the birds.”

Israeli planes renewed air strikes in Gaza early on Saturday and Hamas fighters responded by firing rockets into Israel. Palestinian medics said at least 12 people were killed overnight in air strikes throughout Gaza.
Health officials said a woman and her three children were among the dead after their house was hit in a refugee camp. At least 132 people have been killed in Gaza since Monday, including 32 children and 21 women.
The fighting in blockaded Gaza, the worst since a 2014 war, exploded following hostilities in east Jerusalem. Fresh overnight tensions hit the east Jerusalem area of Shuafat, where young, masked Palestinian protesters set debris on fire as Israeli police responded with tear gas.
