Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced a nationwide strike scheduled for April 26 to protest Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza and to express solidarity with the Palestinian people, urging people to boycott products of companies which support Israel.
The announcement was made by JI Central Ameer, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, during a passionate address at the party’s ‘Palestine Solidarity March’ held on Islamabad Expressway. The demonstration condemned the continued Israeli actions in Gaza.
While addressing the crowd, the JI leader declared, “From Chitral to Karachi, we will observe a complete strike.” He added, “We will go door to door, urging businesses to remain closed on April 26. We will wage our resistance through boycotts, strikes, and campaigns on social media.”
He urged JI supporters to avoid using products that financially support Israel.
“Regardless of whether you have a gun or political power, if you face Israel, you will be destroyed,” he said. “Stand up and fight for the Palestinian cause. Stand up and condemn Israel. Stand up to America.”
Reham also demanded that Hamas office be opened in Pakistan and formally recognized.
Israel has killed more than 51,000 Palestinians and destroyed much of the housing and hospital infrastructure in the enclave since October 8 2023. The death toll is feared to be much higher due to thousands still missing under the rubble.
