India’s billionaire rankings have seen a major shift this year, with Mukesh Ambani losing his long-held position as Asia’s richest person after a sharp decline in his wealth, while Gautam Adani has reclaimed the top spot amid relatively stronger business performance.
According to the latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index, ongoing tensions in the Middle East and broader economic pressures have contributed to a notable drop in Ambani’s net worth, allowing Adani to reclaim the top spot in Asia.

Reports suggest that Mukesh Ambani’s wealth has fallen by approximately $16.9 billion this year, bringing his total net worth down to around $91 billion. This represents the largest decline among Asia’s wealthiest individuals.
The retail business overseen by Isha Ambani recorded a growth rate of 8%, which is significantly below its target of 20%.
On the other hand, Gautam Adani’s fortune has remained relatively stronger. His diversified business interests, primarily in ports, power, and infrastructure, have helped shield him from global market volatility, enabling him to regain his position as Asia’s richest individual.
Who’s Gautam Adani?
Gautam Adani’s, an Indian billionaire industrialist and the founder and chairman of the Adani Group, net worth is currently estimated at approximately $92.6 billion, ranking him 19th globally on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
His Adani Group is a massive multinational conglomerate headquartered in Ahmedabad, India, with interests spanning ports, airports, power generation, green energy, cement, and logistics.
He operates Mundra Port, India’s largest private port, and is the country’s biggest airport operator.
Adani has pledged $70 billion toward India’s green energy transition, aiming to become one of the world’s largest renewable energy producers.
