A security man was martyred and four terrorists were killed in a gun battle in Mardan district of Khyber Pakhtunkwa on Saturday.
Foiling the terrorists’ attack in the Sawaldhair area, the security forces responded rapidly and shot dead four attackers. During the shootout, a security personnel was also martyred.
It may be mentioned here that a police station in the Katlang area of Mardan district was also targeted in a militant attack on Tuesday last, resulting in a heavy explosion followed by sustained gunfire. One police constable sustained injuries during the incident.
Meanwhile, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has conducted intelligence-based operations in various cities of Punjab and arrested three terrorists including an ISIS commander.
According to a CTD spokesperson, explosives, weapons, mobile phones, and cash were recovered from the terrorists.
Among the arrested terrorists Abdul Wahab, Saifullah, and Khurram Abbas are included. Operations were conducted in Faisalabad, Jhelum, and Chakwal.
