Four shopkeepers believed to be of Pakistani origin were shot dead in a suspected targeted attack in South Africa’s Gauteng province.
According to details, the incident occurred on Saturday evening in Kempton Park, east of Johannesburg, where gunmen opened fire on the victims’ vehicle as it stopped at a traffic signal in the Sebenza area. According to police, two armed suspects arrived in a white sedan, got out and fired multiple shots before fleeing.
All four occupants died at the scene. Police have launched a murder investigation, although no arrests have been made and the victims’ nationalities have yet to be officially confirmed.
Pakistan South Africa Association President Hayat Khan condemned the attack, describing it as a tragic loss of lives and urging authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.
He also appealed to the Pakistani community to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
