Security forces have killed four militants during an intelligence-based operation in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the military’s media wing.
In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operation was conducted during the night of 18 and 19 February after reports of the presence of members of “Fitna al-Khawarij”, described as operating with Indian backing, in the area.
The statement said troops effectively engaged the militants’ hideout. A fierce exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the deaths of four militants.
According to the ISPR, weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site. The individuals were said to have been involved in a number of militant activities in the region.
A clearance operation remains under way, the spokesperson added, as security forces continue actions under the Azm-e-Istehkam campaign to eliminate militancy from the country.
