Former ISI chief Lt General (retd) Faiz Hamid has been taken into custody as the military initiated a court-martial, the army’s media wing said on Monday.
It is worth mentioning that the management of Top City, a private housing scheme, accused the former ISI chief of orchestrating a raid on the offices and residence of its owner, Moeez Khan. In November 2023, the Supreme Court advised the housing society’s owner to seek resolution through the appropriate channels, including the defense ministry, regarding his grievances against the ex-spymaster and his associates.
According to a press release from Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military said that, under the direction of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Pakistan Army conducted a thorough court of inquiry to verify the complaints made against Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd) in the Top City Case.
The release added, “As a result, appropriate disciplinary action has been initiated against Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd) under the provisions of the Pakistan Army Act.”
Furthermore, the ISPR noted that multiple instances of violations of the Pakistan Army Act after his retirement have also been established. “The process of a Field General Court Martial has been initiated, and Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd) has been taken into military custody,” it further stated.
