Former Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed, who passed away on August 30, 2023, has been accused of rape by five former female employees, who allege that the late billionaire sexually assaulted them while working at the luxury London department store.
Al Fayed, a wealthy Egyptian businessman, once owned Harrods and the Ritz hotel in Paris. He was also the father of Dodi Al Fayed, who was in a relationship with Princess Diana at the time of their deaths in 1997.
It should be noted that despite his numerous business ventures and decades of living in the U.K., Al Fayed was consistently denied British citizenship.
The BBC has gathered testimony from over 20 former female employees who claim to have been sexually assaulted by Al Fayed, with some accusations involving rape. In the BBC program “Al Fayed: Predator at Harrods”, it is alleged that the company not only failed to protect the women but also covered up their claims.
The alleged assaults reportedly took place in multiple locations, including London, Paris, St. Tropez, and Abu Dhabi.
One of the women, who claims she was raped by Al Fayed at his apartment in London’s Park Lane, told BBC investigators, “I made it clear that I didn’t want that to happen. I did not give consent. I just wanted it to be over.”
