A Flydubai flight to Sri Lanka, carrying two Israeli citizens among its passengers, made an emergency landing in Karachi, Pakistan, overnight on Wednesday, Israel’s Foreign Ministry confirmed.
It should be noted that Israel does not have diplomatic ties with Pakistan.
Flydubai flight FZ-569 was en route to Colombo, Sri Lanka from Dubai when a woman on board fell ill, necessitating the emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport on Wednesday.
The Israeli newspaper, The Times of Israel, reported that two Israeli citizens were among the passengers, citing the Israeli foreign ministry. The ministry stated that it had “worked, together with others, to ensure the welfare” of the Israelis.
However, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) said on Thursday that it was not aware of the reported presence of Israeli nationals on the Flydubai flight. PCAA spokesperson Saifullah Khan mentioned that Pakistani authorities were unaware of the presence of Israeli nationals on the flight.
“The report about Flydubai flight 569 indicated only that it was en route to Colombo from Dubai and that the condition of a woman on board worsened, leading to the landing at 11pm on Wednesday in Karachi,” Khan said.
