ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani national was killed in the Poonch sector in the custody of the Indian Army, on which the Foreign Office has summoned the Indian charge d’affaires.
According to details, the Indian charge d’affaires was summoned to the Foreign Office. The Foreign Office says the Indian charge d’affaires was told about Pakistani prisoner Zia Mustafa, who has been in Indian Army custody since 2003. The prisoner was mysteriously killed away from the jail, which raises serious questions.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, the Indian Army has been involved in extrajudicial killings of prisoners in the past. “The Pakistani nation and the oppressed Kashmiri strongly condemn the extrajudicial killing of prisoners. We demand an immediate investigation into the incident to ensure justice,” the statement added.
A Foreign Office spokesman said it was India’s responsibility to keep Pakistanis detained in India safe until their release or repatriation. The extrajudicial killing of a Pakistani prisoner should be investigated transparently and those responsible should be punished.
Earlier, PM Imran Khan strongly condemned the Indian atrocities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and said that the oppressed Kashmiris are leaders for the freedom-loving people of the world. In a message on Twitter, the prime minister said that Pakistan and millions of Kashmiris celebrate October 27 every year as Black Day, which aims at the illegal occupation of parts of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
