Flight operations in Islamabad were disrupted for the second day on Thursday as the twin cities received heavy rain last night.
As per details, everyday life was affected by heavy rain in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Â Nala Lai witnessed a flood while roads were submerged on Adiala Road.
According to the Meteorological Department, 125 mm of rain was recorded in the Bokra area of Islamabad, 106 mm in Sector I-12, 97 mm in Golra, 61 mm at the airport, 69 mm in Syedpur, and 22 mm at Zero Point.
In Rawalpindi, the highest rainfall was recorded in Chaklala area at 133 mm, 102 mm in Kachhari, 90 mm in Gowalmandi, 80 in Pirodhai, and 67 mm in Shamsabad.
The water level in Nala Lai in the Katarian area reached 15.7 feet, which increased the danger in low-lying areas. Several roads, including Adiala Road, were submerged, and citizens are facing severe difficulties.
On Wednesday, several flights were either cancelled or delayed as bad weather disrupted flight operations at Islamabad International Airport.
According to the flight inquiry website at Islamabad International Airport, a total of six flights to and from the capital were cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
The flight operation from Islamabad to Skardu remained completely suspended throughout the day.
Among the affected flights was AirSial’s Karachi-Islamabad flight PF-121, which was cancelled.
In addition, two Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights – PK-451 and PK-452 – scheduled between Islamabad and Skardu were also called off.
